Cane sugar has a reputation for being “healthier” than refined white sugar. Is that actually true?

Nutritionally, the two are nearly identical: raw cane sugar contains trace minerals (calcium, iron, potassium), but in amounts far too small to have any real health impact. Both are, in essence, pure sucrose.

The real recommendation, regardless of which type you choose, is to moderate all added sugar in your diet — the World Health Organization recommends keeping it under 10% of daily calories, ideally under 5%.
